Employment Services

New Horizons provides job readiness and vocational training for all supported individuals who are interested in attaining competitive employment in the community. Our goal is to provide them with the skills necessary to become assets to their employers and contributing members to their communities. Professional staff at New Horizons provides hands-on and person-centered training to ensure all individuals are able to work real jobs for real wages, regardless of disability.

Our individuals are usually placed in employment “enclaves.” This means that a small group of supervised individuals work together in local businesses. Trained job coaches provide instruction, supervision, and serve as a liaison between the community employer and New Horizons.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to get employers to open their doors, eyes, and hearts to employing adults with disabilities as they are stuck on the “dis” and not the “ability.” However, this could not be further from the truth. New Horizons has a certified employment specialist that works tirelessly with trained staff and potential employers to ensure that our people are seen in a different light and given the opportunity for employment.

Currently, New Horizons has individuals employed at multiple community partners such as: Berry Global, United Records, Southern Lawn Care, Allen Printing, and Kroger.
